                Ellen Horowitz, M.S.

                Ellen Horowitz is an Education and Remediation Specialist with her own Educational Therapy Practice called LearningSmart, LLC. Passionate about education and its possibilities, Ellen provides numerous services that help students reach their maximum potential. She works 1-1 with students utilizing numerous strategies and programs to enhance cognitive and executive functioning skills. In addition, offers small group activities to enhance self-esteem and social growth related to academics, provides home programs with monitoring, and works with parents to create peaceful homes.
                     Some programs offered by LearningSmart, LLC. include:  Brainjogging, PACE (Processing and Cognitive Enhancement), Reading Horizons, Barton Reading and Spelling, Play Attention, Integrated Listening Systems, Brainware Safari, Fastforword, Individualized Academic Remediation Programs and so much more.  Ellen performs academic assessments utilizing norm referenced, as well as informal assessments to determine student needs, as well as provides homeschool evaluations for the Broward County Public Schools and the State of Florida.
                     Ellen holds a Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University and a Florida Teaching Certificate.  Ellen is an Affiliate Member of the Association of Educational Therapists. Before opening LearningSmart, she was a Broward County Public School teacher for 9 years, worked in the private school realm, and was an Associate Professor at Broward Community College. Ellen has experience as a teacher trainer having consulted with Family Central of Broward and a variety of private schools in Broward County. She writes articles for the Parent Notebook Magazine, has had an article published in Parkland Life magazine and has published a book on using American Sign Language as a teaching tool.

                Joelle Cadet, M.OT

                Joelle Cadet joined the Learning Smart team in September 2010 as a Cognitive Trainer.  Joelle’s passion has always been working with children and she enjoys helping those experiencing difficulties, such as:  learning & attention, auditory processing, sensory integration, and body awareness.  As a Cognitive Trainer, Joelle is responsible for helping children to decrease anxiety and frustration levels, increase processing speed, manage time in work, school and play, and increase self esteem.  Joelle is iLs (Integrated Learning Systems) certified and holds a Master of Occupational Therapy Degree from Nova Southeastern University.  Joelle can be reached at 954-247-ICAN or by email at joelle.learningsmart@gmail.com.

                Camille Hornet,

                Camille joined the LearningSmart team in December of 2010 as an Educational Specialist. Camille is in her 15th year as a Broward County School teacher. Under her instruction, she has transform lives through general instruction for elementary students, parents and teachers. With a Bachelors degree in Elementary and National Board Certification in Early Childhood, Camille Hornett fosters individual growth in all of her students. Her specialty is targeting each student’s strength in their own learning modality.  To support student success, she participates in training teachers at various schools and for several school districts. Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate in Teaching and Learning through Technology. "Passionate about making a difference in a child's life, Camille enjoys watching the transformation of students when they realize the love of learning."                 Allicia Walford, B.A.

                Allicia joined the LearningSmart team in August of 2011 as our Office Manager.  Allicia holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University and is working towards a Florida Teaching Certificate.  Her passion has always been reading and writing, so much so that she created a 15 year career out of a hobby working as a bookstore manager. Once married, the retail hours no longer worked with her family life and Allicia began pursuing a career in Education.  She has experience as a Broward County School Board certified substitute teacher, preschool children’s formation and as the Office Manager/Internship Coordinator of a high end English Learning Center.  Most recently Allicia was a Para-professional for children with profound disabilities.  Allicia can be reached at our office at 954-247-ICAN or by email at allicia.learningsmart@gmail.com.
